Inaugural Durban Cotton Fest Line-Up Revealed

Organisers of the Cotton Festival have announced the line-up for the inaugural music and fashion show taking place in Durban, KwaZulu Natal.

The eye-catching line-up was shared via Instagram on Tuesday, 13 June, featuring multi-award-winning musicians Babes Wodumo, DJ Tira, Sjava and Big Zulu and dozens more artists at Kings Park Stadium on Sunday, 2 July.

Other Mzansi icons like Blxckie, Dlala Thukzin, DJ Sox, Elaine, Emtee, Junior De Rocka, Kabza De Small and L’vovo Derrango will also be making an appearance, adding to the hype.

“The festival will merge both established and young emerging talents performing live across two energy-packed stages,” the organisers said in their post before adding: “The urban music and fashion explosion aims to showcase the diversities in various popular music genres with the aim of fusing the gaps within the different local movements.”

Late South African rapper Riky Rick began the festival in 2019, in an effort to bring the best of Mzansi together in a fun-filled event. However, not everyone was satisfied with the line-up. “Nah the line [sic],” one user named @nawkeezy said with a crying face emoji before adding: “This a mini-fest.”

“Restart this whole line-up” Halle Mthimkhulu also commented. “Do it again.”
